Just ordered a Gamma II head torch from Alpkit.  Seems to be good value at £21.00.  The only slight disadvantage is that it doesn't take rechargeable batteries but I don't think that will be a problem.

Alpkit state that they don't recommend rechargable batteries. Not that they don't work. They do. I have two Alpkit head torches including the Gamma II. Have no problem with using rechargables for over 2 years. Rechargable batteries are usually if not always are lower in voltage than the normal battery so will not blow the LEDs.

Thanks for that craven50.  I shan't be using it that often, so I think I shall just use normal batteries and keep a set of spares, but it's useful to know that I can use rechargeables if I need to.

Just bought:

Anker 10,000mah battery pack + USB C cable
Quechua Escape 20 backpack

On the look out for a good scarf/face mask/neckwarmer combo!

Thanks,
Finished work earlier than expecting and nipped to go outdoors where I picked up a buff polar!

Trying very hard not to buy a Suunto Ambit 3 Peak, need some new walking boots first!
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake.

Such a grey day today, so took the opportunity to bob up the M6 to Whalley Warm and Dry to buy some new properly fitted walking shoes as my other pairs have seen better days (or so I told myself!).........as a change from my boots.   Bought a couple of other bits and bobs including a new buff...

I'll be doing exactly the same come my birthday. New pair of boots are needed. (Altbergs)

It's a great place - always get fixed up there - Suppose it depends where you are based, but not too far for me so wouldn't go anywhere else for boots.

I'm about 40mins away in Oldham. Do you need to book a slot for fitting?

You don't have to book but it might be best depending on when you go.  I've been numerous times over the years. Sometimes seen straight away, other times had to wait.  Closed on Mondays.

Alpkit Ordos 2 winging its way to me as I type this.  Looking forward to getting it out and testing it during March.
