Beacon Fell and Brock Valley
« on: 22:55:10, 16/04/09 »
Being off work for another week and my brother also having a few days off, we followed the weather forecasts and Thursday appeared to be the best day of the week.  Of course, in Britain since the onset of Northern Hemisphere Cooling, the "best" day merely means a day it doesn't bucket down with rain, so we set out in strong winds, heavy cloud, but (mercifully) dry conditions.

We set out from the car park at the Bowland Visitor Centre.....

.....and headed into the woods.

Emerging from the woods, we should have had spectacular views, but not today!

Undettered, we eventually arrived at the valley of the River Brock.

The footpath leaves the riverside for a while.....

....and follows a path along the top of the valley.....

.....before dropping back down to the river.

The shelter of the valley from the wind enabled yours truly to remove my hat!

Leaving the valley again we emerged through the trees.

To enter this field with a hazy Fairsnape Fell as a backdrop.

Climbing higher.....

....we caught a view of a misty Parlick Fell.

Before heading back towards Beacon Fell.

From there it was a matter of entering the woods.....

....and arriving back at the visitor centre just in time to miss the rain.
