TR To Bear Grylls Island,St Tudwal's West .
« on: 22:58:05, 19/06/12 »

As we recently had a topic on Kayaks & then two reports this week on walks on the Llyn Peninnsula  coastal Path, here is something we did today to combine both .

Leaving Abersoch at at high tide & Kayaking over to St Tudwal's Island West ( owned by Bear Grylls ) then around the coast to explore some of the many sea caves  which can only really be done by Kayak, then out into St Tudwal's Sound & on to Porth Ceiriad to walk a section of the newly opened Coastal Path.

Short video here..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haLM35U4Qlc  ..  & TR here....

Heading out of Abersoch Bay

Bear Grylls private island , no welcome here .. & i helped him buy this

I bought a few of his books !

Lots of wild life

Cheeky Seals all around the Kayaks

Some of the best sea caves in the area

First view of Porth Ceiriad

On Porth Ceiriad beach , one of us got turfed out in the surf ...i was amused

New kissing gate to the recently opened part of the coastal path

with a foreboding sign.

Difficult walking in a wet suit & Teva's

Porth Ceiriad one of the finest beaches on the Llyn Peninsula ,a hot day in the middle of June & yet its completely deserted

St Tudwal's Island West seen from the new coastal path

Porth Bach is a private beach / cove for the sole use of a few very exclusive residences,

Even the new coastal path has been kept away from here , but if you arrive buy boat they  can't stop you .

The old lifeboat station for Abersoch now a fantastic home....., what a location .

Wow x 1 000 000

Just looked at the pics then watched the vid, just before i retire for the night. It has sent me into a dreamlike state. What can I say? It has comedy, amazing visuals, deserted beaches, trespass on land that should belong to everyone, and the music rounds it all off perfectly. And not only walking, but kayaking on the open sea  O0 O0 O0 I take my English hat off to you and wish I was Welsh, watching that  O0 O0 O0 Superb. Cant see anyone topping that any time soon...  O0 O0 O0

Re trespass on land ..... coming ashore at the private beach /cove at Porth Bach , Barewirewalker would be proud of me   ;D
As i understand it the area between the high water mark & the low water mark on a beach is owned by the Crown Estate & nobody can keep you off it.
There are a few exceptions ie firing ranges etc...Thanks for the kind words  O0

Bear Grylls island, my uncle was on there a few months ago (he's a painter/decorator so I think you  can work out what he was doing ;) )

It sounds like a good way to get around! maybe you need to do a Welsh Coastal paddle!

Those breeze blocks on 'Bear's Isle' is my mate building Bear a shed to store his Quadbike......Now seeing the size of the island, you could walk round it in 10 mins............
