As I followed the course of the Mourne wall I came to Eagle's summit, the high point of the day. Eagle is my favourite mountain in the western Mournes. On a clear day it is possible to count 30 peaks from there. After admiring the views, I made the short traverse to Shanlieve where I was surprised to see snow. I descended through marshy pathless terrain to Pierces Castle before continuing to Tornamrock, the final peak of the day. I made my way back to the car park on the only decent path in the western Mournes.
