Patterdale YHA may have been an easier place to stay but Helvellyn does feel much more traditional.

You’re absolutely right Mark, I hadn’t stayed in either, but Helvellyn was cheaper. In hindsight for a little more, Patterdale would have been the better option and one I’ll try again.

However, the whole experience up in the Helvellyn hostel was...........different?
Especially the men’s shower for two.
Thankfully I had it all to myself!!!  :o   ;D

Cracking TR John and pics. It’s been so long since I’ve done one myself I really must put that right. We’re on our last visit of the year to Snowdonia on 10th November for a long weekend so doing a bit more in the Moelwyns. Good to see you out and looking well  O0

Thanks Phil, it’s absolutely fantastic to be well again mate. This year could have gone very differently for me, and I’m just thankful it’s gone well.  :)

Enjoy your long weekend in November  O0

Cracking write up Jontea - really enjoyed that - I love walking from St Sunday towards Fairfield and Grisedale Tarn - walking into such great scenery.

Great report. I liked your photo of the day. It is interesting to read about different routes up a mountain. I have only been up via Striding Edge / Swirral Edge and from the Lower Man direction.

I thought the length of the report and the number of photos was just right to describe your day.
