pleb, what a fab selection of wild flowers! 8)   You've spotted some there that I haven't seen for a long time.
I think you've got a lily of some sort in there too.
Brilliant! O0

It fitted the bill for an afternoon, 40 mins max drive, free roadside parking, dont even need OS map, know my way.
Pumpkinhead was watching the snooker.
Lily? Must check... :-\
Checked pics...which is the lily?

Nice photos, looks as if you bagged an orchid. May be similar to one we found on the Long Mountain a couple of days ago. Seem to remember an exchange visit to Selby area during my time at Agricultural College.

Lovely pics. Particularly like the equines 'shot' from lower angles.

Anything is better than going shopping so ran through the flowers - using the old Keble Martin book and the 'net.
In order of pics;
Fumitory - not sure which one
&
White Dead nettle
Bluebells -native nonscripta O0
Ground Ivy
Violet - odorata ? KM offers at least 14 + many, many subspecies!
Hmm - does look like a lily - wonder what the flower will be
Crosswort - very descriptive of the leaf/flower arranged round the stem
Cowslip
Pyramidal Bugle
Speedwell - several to chose from :-\
Dandelions (with donkey) ;D
and with horses
Cinquefoil - I think, though as always several to chose from
White Bryony - good spot, not seen this before

More than happy to be corrected on any of these - thanks for giving me a really good excuse to delay going shopping. Can't put it off any longer :(

You beat me to it Jac!  I was going to post a list too! :D

The Cinquefoil...I was thinking it could be 'creeping'?
And the Fumitory...perhaps just the 'common'?

Deffo think there's a Lily species in there... but would need pleb to go back in a couple of weeks to see if it's flowered!  Mine aren't flowering yet.

pleb...the (possible) Lily is the pic after the Violet and before the Crosswort.  Maybe you have other ideas?

From memory, think its gonna be common gromwell?
Assumed the bugle was the regular kind.

Common Gromwell; Yes, that looks spot on pleb (although the leaves do look rather lily-ish).
I too think the Bugle is the 'regular' kind.  Pyramidal Bugle is very rare here, although a bit less rare in Ireland. (Just done a bit of research! :D )

This may answer some questions - even the front page declaration mentions the flowers - could that be one of the mystery ones ?

Nice pics pleb.  It's good to see the woodland trails leafing up nicely as well as all the wildflowers coming out.  It's inspired me to do a similar walk that I've not done for a loooong while  O0

Sounds a truly wonderful flower site. Not much limestone in Devon but Gromwell grows well on Kerswell Down which is limestone.
I hope you pop back to check it out, Pleb and post a pic.
Good to have discussions like this.
