Three Irish walks
« on: 16:08:32, 21/05/08 »
Not too many posts in this section, but since we have one I thought I'd put my Ireland questions here :)

Walkinggirl, I noticed that you said you wanted to do some walking in this area. I have decided to do the Wicklow Way for the second half of my summer trip. I am also debating whether I want to do the Dingle Way or the Kerry Way or if I want to try to squeeze them both in. It would be cool if you wanted to come along on any or part of these of these trips.

My question for everyone else is...

Would you do the Dingle Way, the Kerry Way or try to squeeze in both?

Basically my trip in Ireland is going to cover some time in Dublin, some time in Galway, some time in Limerick/Shannon, Wicklow Way, Dingle Way, Kerry Way.

Is there any or part of this you would shorten or remove entirely?

Lizzie

My wife and I along with a few friends are planning to walk the Dingle Way in June 2009. Have any forum members done this walk, if so what were the highlight of your walk.

I know its a little late for the original post, but this blog should give anyone a feel for the Dingle Way and it's a cracking read (as is his Pennine Way journal).

I had a touring holiday a few years ago and passed by this place - the Gallarus Oratory near Dingle, thought to be about 13 centuries old.

It as possibly the finest early Christian church in Ireland. It is built without mortar and is bone dry inside. There are some great restaurants around the place as well, and the Guinness - real Guinness - has to be tasted to be believed.

Hello Cosmic,

You most likely have your walking trip to Dingle planned by now. If not I can help you organise it.  Govisitireland have organised independent walking trips along the Dingle Way for the past 15 years. You can see details at [http://www.govisitireland.com/dingleway.html].  Let me know if you would any more help.  Best regards, Irish Rover
