Looks good to me. I would maybe try and lighten the shadows a bit though.
Yes, I accept that comment. From what I remember of the location along with the original image, the lighting(snow and clear blue sky at 9000 feet) was quite intense. I have lightened it; maybe needs some more along with softening.
You might want to tone down the saturation a bit. The sky seems too blue. That might also help with the shadows.
The sky often is a really intense blue at higher altitudes - that is certainly my experience from my time in the Alps.
Better, grumpy. There is a limit as to what you can do with old photos so I would probably stick with that.
One thing though - there is a bit of a white edge to the upper right slopes of the prominent peak that was not present on your first attempt. Did you mess with the sharpness?Maybe I am nitpicking - feel free to ignore.
