Sunshine and snow on Slieve Muck
« on: 20:06:41, 30/03/17 »
Last Sunday saw me take in one of my favourite summits in the Mournes, Slieve Muck. Slieve Muck occupies a central location sandwiched between the higher eastern Mournes and neighboring western Mournes. It was the first week-end of sunshine since January :) . Starting from Dear's Meadow mid-afternoon I followed the Mourne wall towards the summit; the summit is a broad grassy dome-shaped peak which requires considerable detours to get the best photos. After venturing southwards towards Gamekeepers Lodge I cut back to the summit cairn. I was pleasantly surprised to see some snow patches on the summit. I took my time soaking up the sun as I returned to the car by following the Mourne wall. Total distance was approximately 6km.

Great pics Henry  O0 Incredible on a walk of 6km that you get to see so much, mountains, sea, a good value for money walk   :)

I do love the place names over there. Pigeon, Great Gully of Eagle, Crocknefeola forest, Wee Binnian  :) The weather hasn't been great in the Lakes, except for last weekend, we were elsewhere though! Good to get sunshine, it does you the world of good.

Thanks April; It has been a long 7 weeks for the first week-end of sunshine over here. Traditionally February tends to be the worst month for weather :)
