:D   I thought I blended in with the heather quite well  ::)

Oh my gawd  ;D   Kit re-evaluation in order me thinks  ;D

Cheers Bill (and Jon) for yesterday - hope you've both dried out  :D   I really did enjoy the day, despite the weather.  In a way it added to the "experience"  ;D

When my camera dries out enough to start working again I'll post some more pics  O0

I wish you luck with your camera. After my beloved Ricoh got wet during a multiple-day walk it went wrong bit by bit, first one button ceased to operate, then another and then another, until the whole thing was dead.Even a week in the airing cupboard failed to revive it.
Two cameras later (the one in between had a mechanical failure unrelated to water) I was determined not to have it happen again, and after some research I bought an Aquapac waterproof pouch. Even the small size is slightly bulky for today's dinky little cameras, while the ways to fasten it to a rucksack are limited. Getting the camera out isn't too bad, while putting it back in the pouch and refastening it is a bit more fiddly. But the main thing is it keeps your precious camera dry, as was proved during my North Wales trip this week, when it was about the only item of my gear that didn't get wet.

Arrgh, don't say that fernman!  My camera was already showing signs of protest from previous soakings.

It's currently sat in the sunshine on a window ledge.  I'll give it a go this evening.

Important stuff like phone/gps and sandwiches were all safely wrapped up and survived (well, apart from the sandwiches ...  :D  )

As always, I'll look forward to reading your blog Howard, when you'v thosee updated it with your latest adventure.
Know what you mean about wet cameras though. My No 1 camera suffered during my trip to Ireland in June. Still sorting the pics out to remove those with water blobs on the lens. I carry a back up cheap point and shoot job just in case of failure.

Mel. Guess I should have said 'a fine looking woman' - or is that not allowed?

I'm gobsmacked  :o

I've just spent a pleasant hour or so after my tea removing what seems like half of the Pap of Glencoe from the inside and outside of my shoes.  I've lovingly brushed all the dried mud off the outside of them and ended up rinsing the insides of them with water as the insides were still damp anyway.  Anyway, some of the water got on the outsides of the shoes and, low and behold, it beaded up and trickled off  :o   I truly am amazed there's any waterproofing left on them at all considering the fact they were absolutely SODDEN through for quite a few hours on Friday.

Good effort Meindl  O0

Finally got the pics of Friday's walk off my camera  :)  :

Feeling a little bit apprehensive! :

Yep.  That little bobble covered in mist on the horizon? That's where we're headed:

Jon and me admiring the views:

... and the view we were admiring:

Banana-cam view in the other direction.  Lots of pointy, unpronounceable mountains:

Grainy, zoomed in shot of a deer:

Bill and Jon on the final clamber up to the top:

Looking towards Kinlochleven with the Mamores behind:

Bill and me posing for a pic before the camera went away as the heavens opened:

And finally, Bill, just to help you understand why my eyes were out on stalks at all the mountains and skywards pointy things, this evening, I took this almost-360deg pano shot of the landscape where I live.  Worlds apart from the views where you live, you lucky, lucky chap :
