Hello all
I'm planning to walk the hellvelyn route again, first time was 25 yrs ago! I'm inexperienced at map reading so want to plan a few smaller walks before heading to the lake district. I'll be taking hubby and my teenage son.
Any magazine subscription or guides or personal experiences as recommendations?
Thanks in advance
Gj

There's a bloody great path going up there so pretty hard to get lost in normal conditions. The summit is full of casual walkers.

Morning, Gj.
I haven't walked Helvellyn myself but, assuming you want to avoid the ridges if your family aren't experienced walkers, this route might be useful to you:

EDIT: Oops! Just saw your other post introducing yourself and mentioning doing the Helvellyn "edges"!

Hi GJ
Have a look at your local park, Ranger, NT property as they often run beginners nav course.
Also look for NNAS Bronze course suppliers
Gaining experience and confidence in your nav skills will enhance your enjoyment of the Outdoors
Good Luck

I think from your post you actually want 'non Lakes walks' probably near to home, for similar reasons I am taking grandson to llangollen, to break him in.
Where do you live?
