Just spent a couple of nights in Dundee Backpackers - an amazing building, cleanest kitchen and bathrooms I've seen, and I was lucky enough to have a single room - which easily outshone an expensive hotel room. Dundee's rather nice too - Edinburgh architecture without the tourists.

Surprised to see Bridge of Orchy bunkhouse!  I stayed here first time I did the WHW, never again, your much better organizing your trip to stay in nearby Tyndrum which has a good variety of comfortable and affordable accommodation.

I would recommend
By the Way Tyndrum - Hostel and Campsite -

I hope the YHA people are reading this.

It's rather noteworthy that the only mention of a Youth Hostel points out that it's 'not walking country'.

Once upon a time it was Youth Hostels that provided walkers with reasonably priced places to stay, now it seems they're great if you want to visit Manchester or London, but not so useful if you need somewhere to stay in Britain's prime walking areas.

If your looking for a place to stay near, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike or Snowdon there are a few suggestions and links on my site, they include campsites/Caravan Sites, B+B's and Hostels. The cheapest I could find.

Glencoe independent hostel where you have a choice of hostel, bunkbarn, huts and caravan. Cheap accommodation, excellent location only a mile from the Clachaig and surrounded by some of the best walking and climbing in the UK. Alternatively red squirrel campsite is round the corner, cheap, great location and atmosphere.

Loch Ossian youth hostel in the Rannoch Moor. I've never stayed here but really want to. Remote, eco friendly, budget. Looks perfect to me :)

Found a really nice, dog friendly, BnB for my two day escape to the Peak District. Take a look at www.loadbrook.co.uk. Close to Sheffield, but even closer to Ladybower, Derwent, etc.
