I'm glad the Sidas Comfort 3D insoles are providing extra comfort underfoot for you as it's always a gamble when buying stuff like this sight unseen.

Perhaps the next thing to try is a different lacing technique to try and lock your heel to the back of the boot so that your heel is firmly held in the heelcup of the insole and in combination with the arch support provided by the insole should prevent your foot sliding forward inside the boot which is what's causing your  toes to contact the front of the boots.

The other thing you could possibly have a look at is your socks. Old socks just like old insoles do wear out and lose their cushioning and support over time. As silly as it might seem the thickness of a sock (no matter how thin) can be the difference between being comfortable or uncomfortable or your toes banging the front of the boot or not. Do you really need to be wearing two pairs of socks when wearing just one pair of the correct thickness may give you the necessary clearance so that your toes don't bang the front of the boot on descents?

With footwear the tiniest change can make a huge difference to overall wearer comfort.

Thanks for the suggestions, KB!

I'll certainly try the lacing techniques that are shown in the YouTube videos, but I don't think I'll tie a knot as shown in the first one of the links - surely that will make getting your boots off more difficult unless you undo it, which won't be easy by the end of the day.

You're right, too, I really ought to get some new socks (Christmas is coming, they'll be the sort of socks I won't mind receiving  ::) ) but I'm not going to give up wearing meraklon inner ones under them, that would be breaking the habit of a lifetime. Unlike some people I've read about on this forum, I never get blisters. Who knows, this could be the reason.

I don't if this would help but in my local chemist they sold some tubes, which I cut to size, which I pulled over my affected toes. Flipping marvellous, suddenly I had relief and have used them as soon as I find any 'tingling' on my toes. Can't remember the make but once seen they are an instantly recognisably make. Worth a try?

One of the pairs I am going to replace is the Brasher Hillwalker socks that I wear under my Sealskinz but they are not available any more, so I filled in a contact form on the Brasher website asking what is the current equivalent.

That was a few days ago and I had forgotten about it until I received a reply early this morning - it is from Blacks!

Edit: Just seen in the small print at the foot of brasher.co.uk web page:
Blacks Outdoor Retail Limited (t/a "Brasher")
Another one bites the dust!
