Morning all,
Just finished a new blog about a walk I did last weekend on the moors above the Upper Derwent Valley. Weather's been a bit haphazard lately but we got a good forecast for the Sunday morning so we made the effort to get up and out early and it was a great half-day on the moors. Well, apart from going knee deep in a very sneakily concealed and stinky bog, that is... At least the hole was only big enough for one leg or I might have disappeared altogether. ;D

Lovely autumn shots O0 I agree this autumn hasn't been the best, a lot of the leaves have been blown from the trees too soon. I do love the way you write..... bunny metropolis :)

Really lovely photos adalard, of yet another of my favourite walking areas! 8)
Yep, Margery Hill can be a real bog fest during the Winter. Best to walk there after a few consecutive very hard frosts! :D

Thanks, April. :) It was lovely to see the trees around the reservoir, I'd pretty much given up on the idea of seeing any decent autumn colours this year. :)

Cheers, Pleb. O0 I don't know how I find them either - I think I must just have been born really, really lucky! ;D

Thanks, Sunnydale. :) Yes, the first time I was up there last year it'd been relatively dry beforehand so it wasn't bad going... Or maybe it just seemed okay after crossing from Outer Edge to Cut Gate End - that was an experience! ;D

Thanks, Dovegirl. :) I'll have to take some seed for the robin next time - I felt bad not giving him anything, he followed us with such dedication!

Great photos and, as others have said, amazing snapping the rabbit so unconcerned.

Thanks, Ridge. :)
A few scarpered when we came into view but I think this one was so busy sprucing himself up for the day ahead that he didn't notice us. Once we spotted him, we stood completely still and took a few snaps. I felt a bit guilty when we did move on as he'd just settled down for a nap in the early morning sun and, of course, we disturbed that.

Thanks, Photonut - it's become one of my favourite walks around there, looking forward to doing it in the snow. :)

Great post! Love the Dark Peak. Done a few walks up there recently but I'm slacking a bit with the blog and am running 5 posts behind at the moment. Last time I did Howden Moors would have been earlier in the year when I did the Derwent Watershed, which was probably my favourite of the year. I'm back up there this friday for a winter walk across westend moor to Bleaklow Stones. I'm hoping for a decent amount of further snowfall between now and then.

Cheers. I know what you mean about the blogging - I've way more walks done than I've had time to write up, I'm afraid.
It is a cracking area, the Dark Peak. Never get bored of it. Fingers crossed you get your snow on Friday, enjoy the walk. O0
