You are so right to say this. Indeed, it did happen a few years back in America. People unloading the groceries from their car, man drove off with two dogs tied to the back bumper. You can guess the rest. Don't tie your dogs to anything that can be moved.

I'd be hesitant to put the dog in the car if the weather is hot, sunny, humid unless it was in the shade.

I've not been camping with my pooch yet, but when I do, I'll be looking one of those corkscrew like ground steaks and a long lead. Unfortunately I cant post a picture for some reason, but you can get them pretty cheap from Pets At Home and Amazon. They look like handy anchor points though I'm not sure the ones I've seen so far would stop my Ridgeback if she really wanted to follow me to the toilet....

They don’t stop my dog from escaping to chase rabbits, pheasants dragging the corkscrew behind!! >:(
