There was a thread asking about easy(ish) walks with good views and a couple of people mentioned Loughrigg Head.

Coincidently I walked it a couple of weeks ago and have done a trip report so people can maybe see for themselves. It's a walk I've done a few times, a lovely walk through the Rydal Estate to start with then a gentle climb up Loughrigg Terrace, gradually giving you fantastic views across Rydal Water to the Fairfield Horseshoe Hills and then over Grasmere and the hills over there. The view from the summit plateau is very nice, the Coniston Fells come into view and a gentle walk along the plateau eventually sees you looking over Ambleside and Lake Windermere before a reasonably gentle descent back into Ambleside.

It's only about 7 miles and takes less than 4 hours if you're having a break and there's plenty of places to do so including a bench at Lily Tarn. It's a good half day walk  O0
