Mrs R and I had walked round the Forest of Dean sculpture trail before, though it was at least 10 years ago. Then it was the end of October and it was very misty and quiet. At the end of July, by contrast, a lot of other people were also there.
Some of the sculptures are a bit strange but my favorites were
Echo - Annie Cattrell
Cone and Vessel - Peter Randall-Page
Iron Road - Keir Smith
Fire and Water Boats - David Nash
Though quite possibly the most impressive thing was not one of the sculptures but this ancient tree which looked like something out of Harry Potter.
Lots of ferns under the trees including the Hard Fern or Blechnum Spicant as fernman and I call it.
It would have made for a much more relaxing walk if there were less people there but I can't complain about other people going to somewhere that I have also decided to go.
