Snowdon 500 Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research Centre
« Reply #196 on: 10:40:10, 24/01/17 »
Hello all,

We are looking for keen walkers to join the Prostate Cancer Research Centre in climbing the biggest mountain in England and Wales, to raise awareness about prostate cancer and to raise funds in order to continue our research. Join us in the Snowdon 500 Challenge, climbing Mount Snowdon with likeminded walkers who want to take on the beautiful climb. 2017 marks the ten year anniversary of this event, and this year PCRC wants to make it the biggest yet! Not only are we celebrating a decade of walking the mountain for PCRC, we are also celebrating the life of the event's organiser, who unfortunately passed away last year from the disease.

The Snowdon 500 Challenge is a well organised walk of the mountain, taking place on the 13th and 14th of May 2017 - you choose which day you want to climb. The mountain is manned by mountain rangers and experienced event marshals, and we provide full briefing packs, including maps, route descriptions, and everything you could need in order to navigate whichever path you take.

The unique challenge can be completed by anyone of average fitness, and you only need to put in a little preparation and training a few weeks before the event. With stunning views and two different paths to choose from, this event is an amazing opportunity to test yourself against the elements.

Registration is £35 each for this walk, and we would love for you to fundraise if you can!!

About the charity: Therapy for advanced prostate cancer has changed little over the past 70 years and every year more men die of the disease – over 11,000 last year just in the UK. Our mission is to develop new therapy for advanced prostate cancer and our long term vision is a cure for the disease. By helping fund our world class research, you will help increase the survival and quality of life of men with prostate cancer.

To sign up, or for more information, go to snowdon500.co.uk

Please join us, we would love to have some avid and experienced mountaineers to support the charity!

Hello Members,

My name is Charles. I will be walking the C2C in May 2018 to raise money for Diabetes UK. I have three members of my family with diabetes. Diabetes is a every day part of my life caring for my dad. Over 4 million people living with diabetes in the UK at present. This represents 6% of the UK population or 1 in every 16 people having diabetes. Any little help to reach my goal would be greatly appreciated.

I will be uploading videos each day for the walk on my youtube channel so you can follow along.

Midnight Walk along the South Downs
Hello everyone!
There is a team challenge event on the South Downs Way 14th July, which I think most of you will enjoy! This fun, but challenging midnight walk has a 20 or 40 mile option and is for teams of 4 walkers and 1 support driver (who can be shared between teams). This walk is in aid of children’s charity, Action Medical Research, so it’s for a great cause!
Feel free to message me for more info! :)
