I don't wish to sound ungrateful as I've had many fine walks with help from these kind of websites that I find very helpful but I don't understand why they delete all the content when they know that just leaving it there and not updating will still be found very useful by people like me
Just seems a shame to spend years on building up great websites and then delete them
It could well be the hosting costs, not all hosts are cheap (mine was £80pa a few years back) , and even if they are why would you pay for something you no longer use? Though I suppose you open a patreon and get hosting costs funded though you;d have to be careful about 'income'.
However you may still find the site (may be a bit broken though, depends how the site was built) on the way back machine -
https://archive.org/web/ an archive of old websites from the internet.
I kind of wished when I dropped my old site years ago (not walking related) that I didn't ask someone from the community if they'd mind hosting a now static site for me on a sub domain.
Maybe if anyone is in contact they could suggest that?
