No direct path as such but if you follow Sour Milk Gill you can turn left when the ground levels out and pick your way between the crags. The other, more path base, option is to continue on the path after Sour Milk Gill round the North and West of Base Brown then pick it off as a quick out and back.

Just found the TR of when we did pretty much the walk you are talking about, though not in the winter. It was much longer ago than I guessed.

Thankyou for the info.
I can't see a route to make it a circular walk on the map.
Do you know of one.
I'll look at the link you sent.
Thanks again

Ridge.
I see you started your walk from Honister Abuse.
Is this the best side to walk from do you think.

You might find these links to Paul Sharkey's website useful, they have maps with the routes Ridge mentions shown

Honister Abuse.
Don't you just love auto-correct.

There is a footpath Seathwaite to Strands Bridge to the east of Seatoller but from there all the way up to Honister I think it would be road walking. If neither Paul Sharkey or April don't know of a path then there isn't one.

From Seatoller to Honister, there is the old toll road that avoids walking on the road. It is part of the Coast to Coast route I think.

In the second link I posted, the toll road is the route taken, it is shown on the map but not in the report or pictures. I have just read the whole report and Paul is walking with David Hall, it is an interesting read, Paul tells David how important his web site is. With David Hall not having his web site now I wonder if Paul Sharkey is aware of how important his own web site is?
