Identification help needed in the lakes.
« on: 15:37:57, 21/05/18 »
I was moving some files from my laptop to an external hard drive and noticed on the drive a folder with various Lake District photos but the ones below didn't have file names so I'm scratching my head about what they are. Can anyone tell me what the cairns and hills are in the 3 photos and the Lake in photo 3? Many thanks.

We were discussing the concrete ring on Blencathra a while ago which is why I remember.

This was confusing me as I'd climbed Blencathra in the clouds and saw "a ring" at the summit, however my photo above was taken on a non cloudy day  O0

I can't help with the other 2, you'll have to wait until April gets home from work.

It has taken me ages to find and post this pic, don't know why but it wouldn't show.

No 3 looks like it's overlooking Ullswater, with Place Fell on the right.   Possibly taken from somewhere like Hartsop Dodd but I'm not certain.

I think it's Ullswater too LL but can't work out where from. Time to get a map out, any excuse.

For the first I'd thought of :

Blencathra... but thats not right.
The second I sort of recognise but difficult to be sure its sort of generic

I think it is Birk Fell? We were on there last autumn. I will check once I'm at home

At home, it isn't Birk Fell unless the cairn has diminished lol. I will have another look in a bit  :)

I think it (photo 3) is from a cairn on Steel Knotts and the fell is Bonscale Pike on the right of the shot, it is Ullswater. I have no idea what Photo 2 is though! I will have another look  :)

No. 2 looks like it has a quarry on the right hand side?

:-[ :-[ :-[ So, I had previously done the walk, took the photo, done a trip report and then a year or so later when I'm confused about the photo, someone posts a link to that photo from my very own website, whoops lol.

Maybe next time I'll look at my site first before I post, lol.

Thanks for the help with the other photos too. I now think I took the 2nd photo from Kelly Hall Tarn near Torver  O0
