NE Lakes -- Heughscar Hill
« on: 08:08:27, 11/02/08 »
10th February 2008

NE Lake District.

Today we set off from Askham near Lowther Castle to walk up onto Heughscar Hill which is one of Wainwrights Outlying Fells and situated at the north end of the High Street range. It was very misty as we set off but as we soon gained a little height we broke out of the murk to get good views across the Eden Valley to the N.Pennines. As we approached Heughscar we could see that there was a great cloud inversion over Ullswater which I estimated at being about 300 feet deep.

Pictures from the walk (in 2 parts) are now on the website.

Regards,

Dave

No near miss this time, Dave - I was about fifty miles North-East! We had similar conditions, though - absolutely fabulous stuff, and it shows in your pics.  I think we've probably got another two days of similar sunshine/temperature inversion stuff left, then it'll be gone. So, folks, if you can get out there, do it now!
Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be missing it all as I seem to have a non-walking week lined up.

Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles
