[Trip Report] The Roaches and Lud' Church
« on: 22:21:23, 28/11/09 »
Today Myself,Cogstar, Arenig +Wendy, Gotmeheadshaved, Theguyuk,Batfink,Granty,Carlw and Dellwalker was In the Western Side of the Peak District to do a walk around the Roaches and Lud's Church the walk clocked in at 11 miles with 1850 feet ( 563 metres) of ascent and at the end of the walk retired to the excellent pub "The lazy Trout" in Meerbrook for well earn beer and a open roaring fire..

Conditions was very misty this morning  which resulted in me having my head in a map for half the walk (Steve) so opted to miss out on Hen Cloud and went straight for Ramshaw Rocks, After some tricky map reading finally arrived at the rocks.

While the rest carried on along the path, Radder decieded while he was amongst the rocks  ;)

After Ramshaw Rocks after more map reading and getting lost we finally arrived at Gradbach and by now the mist was starting to lift.

We finally arrived at the entrance to Lud's Church and a well earned rest, or to see certain people trying to scale some rocks nearby.

Jim trying to earn his fiver  ;D

From Lud's Church we followed a Cogstar route (which about killed half the group) and up onto the main Ridge that would take us to the Roaches. This view is towards the Moors round the Cat and Fiddle and is the first snowfalls this winter in the Peaks.

View towards Shutlingsloe from the Roaches.

And another view from the Roaches.

Group shot at the trig point on the Roaches.

Jim and Steve being........well Jim and Steve  ;D

Radder on the Edge again..

View looking along the Roaches.

Doxy Pool.

And the final shot showing Rock Climbers on the Roaches rock face.So ending a great day out  O0

Looks like another excellent day out, I was wandering around Monsal Dale yesterday (looks like we had better weather, no murk until around 16:00 and then not much) and could see snow in the distance.

The linked pic of an icycled up Luds Church looked amazing.

These boots were made for walking so that's just what I'll do. After I've re-proofed them of course...
