Western Dales -- Rhinos, Hippos & Bears!!
« on: 08:09:09, 21/07/08 »
Well at least they were there around 130,000 years ago as bones of these animals were found in Victoria Cave many years ago along with a 11,000 year old Antler Spear point which is the earliest evidence of mans existence in the Yorkshire Dales.
On our way to the cave we walked a length of the Ribble Way and passed Stainforth Force and Catrigg Force.
The walk started in Settle and ended with a visit to Ye Olde Naked Man cafe which should not be missed.
Pictures of the walk are now available for those wishing to view.
Regards,
Dave

Hi, Dave.

You have just saved my sanity!  I am off the Ingleton tomorrow for a few days' camping, returning on Saturday.  I already have two good walks planned for Wednesday and Friday, but have been mulling over what to do on Thursday.  I'll go to Settle by bus and see what happens from there!

Interesting report and pics as always.   :)

My pleasure Dave. Settle is a great starting point for many walks.....Don't forget the cafe if you get time.
