Outdoor GB are selling Snugpak Jungle Blankets for £17.00 at the moment.
Bought one a couple of weeks ago, very impressed, well made, warm & big enough to use as quilt.
I have used the Jungle bag for years - Ideal as a summer bag & very robust.

I looked at them but they are a bit heavy - at 700g they are the same weight as my Down Sleeping Bag (rated +5 / -5 / -19)

I almost bought a Snugpack jungle blanket around Christmas to help my sleeping quilt to retain its heat but my son and daughter in law bought me a Rab Microlight jacket before I could so I use that now to achieve the same effect.

Nice photo, looks to be good marketing as well but is it any good? That's part of the problem isn't it, how do we really know, obviously we can't know for sure, that knowledge tends to come after we make our decisions. I know that once purchased I have made some good decisions and I have also made a few bads ones as well, or I've ended up buying products that are half good and half not so good. On balance I think my less than £100 purchases have been a bit better than my more expensive purchases. Maybe others would say the opposite?

You can find Paramo on eBay at good prices. Paramo sell some ‘seconds’ which are bits of kit that fail QA or kit that has been used as a demonstrator or display. I bought some of their kit, including the Velez smock which replaced an army surplus smock with a micro fibre lining. In all honesty, the ex army smock was better kit. Neither are particularly waterproof. I sweat like a pig on walks particularly loaded up so a thin liner and the smock did the trick most of the time. The smock is a copy of a Buffalo jacket that I think is no longer made but alternatives can be found on amazon fir £30 or so

Whilst trying to think out how to deal with rain and how to improve my tent sleeping arrangements I decided on buying two very cheap items.

I bought two pairs of black tights recently which grip around the top of my thighs but have no feet to them, they just secure around my ankles, they are just lightweight leggings, light as a feather and they came all the way from China, I paid just over £5 for them. I wanted them for two reasons, firstly to keep my legs warmish, I don't like to wear john johns as I tend to get too hot in them. The second reason and I don't know if anyone else experiences this small problem, is when I have been hiking all day and even after a shower my legs can feel hot against each other in the night. I wore them recently and the material works, it separates one leg from the other nicely and I never experienced the hot skin problem at all.

My second item was from Amazon. I just typed in Rain Skirt and bought a new one for £10. So lightweight and fits into a tiny little bag as well.

I've not bothered ordering one so have saved myself a whole £3.99 which I will put towards a meal at the Humble Pie and Mash in Whitby on Sunday after my walk, definitely a bargain ! ;D
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake.
