I should probably not tell you all this but Cwm Clogwyn is also superb and quiet, approach from the Snowdon Ranger path  then deviate off into the cwm around Llyn Ffynnon Y Gwas and head for the stile in the fence after crossing the out flow of the reservoir and ascend to two lovely small llyns. There cwm is an excellent place for rare plants, mosses and liverworts especially club mosses if you like that sort of thing. You can join the Rhydd Ddu path by scrambling up the ridge on the right of  Llechog or there is a scramble up the gulley in the centre of the crag - not for the faint hearted.

It is also the home of the very rare Snowdon Beetle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysolina_cerealis

Which is worth looking for. Look for Mountain thyme.

seeing as the cat's been let out of the bag...

Cwm Clogwyn and Llechog's ridge from Llanberis via Bwlch Maesgwm is a brilliant route to Snowdon's summit

Cwm Clogwyn:

Just was looking at that a few weeks back when I went up the Llanberis path. A couple of nice looking gullies and wandered if there passable to the average scrambler. Been looking at the Snowdon Girdle walk but not having wild camped would have to split it up somehow. One to think about

I think I know what you're referring to ;)

Looking across from the Llanberis path to the cliffs of Clogwyn Du'r Arddu, there's two gullies (or terraces) in a distinctive 'V' shape. The left (east) branch is a grade 1 scramble apparently.
