South Devon
« on: 22:04:07, 23/08/11 »
Whoop just booked a bargain break for October half term, staying a bunglow near to Churston cove. Will now need to investigate some coast path to walk - we've done all of it from Brixham to Paignton. I fancy getting public transport to Dartmouth and walking back if it's not too insanely far.

Just Googled this because I'd never heard of it! looks gorgeous. Don't know how far it would be from Dartmouth, have you investigated yet?

Brixham to Kingsweir is 10.8 miles

Not sure if we would do something this long, but will certainly do some coast path walking in that area. Might check out if we can catch a bus to somewhere part the way along. You'd be welcome to join us for a walk if your close by and around that week O0

Hi Ruth,

Kingswear to Brixham is a cracking walk. There are a few steep climbs but it is worth the effort.

From Churston you can get the No 12 bus to Brixham and from there one of several buses to Kingswear. There are not many places for refreshment along the route so take plenty of water with you!

Unfortunately the bus route cuts across the headland so it is not easy to cut the walk down - but there several nice coves along the route that are not usually too busy that are perfect for a halfway picnic.

You could also go the other way - towards Torquay. This is more of an urban coastal walk but still quite surprising as long as you do not mind walking on tarmac - plenty of refreshment on this walk!
