Hello... not been on the site for ages but really need some advice.
I've registered on a 48 hour running event next year. It starts at Haltwhistle. You have 48 hours to get as far away from Haltwhistle as you can. The downside is for the race, only as the crow flies miles count. So we are wanting to head towards Manchester / Birmingham direction. I live in Manchester.
Been having a think about routes. Utilising part of the Pennine Way is one idea but may be too hilly, and as such wouldn't help in getting the miles in. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of canal paths up there either.
So I wondered if any of you good people had some ideas.. once past Manchester.. If we get that far, we can use the canal network.. do you think heading onto parts of the PW is a good idea or is there a lower level route that any of you know about...
