Recently took delivery of a Lixada 550m titanium pot, wider than a mug, without lid for £9:90 from Ali. I've made a lid from foil and saved weight & money.

My advice would be avoid titanium for anything other than boiling water - the very low thermal conductivity and extreme thinness of the pans means that you get hot spots where the sauce becomes burnt on, and these leave a mark even after intense scouring. Best choice would be non stick aluminium - over 10 times the thermal conductivity and thicker pan bottom means that the heat is spread more evenly, and hot spots are avoided. And cheaper!

..but I'm only wanting to boil water on my short forays into the hills.

Good price. I went for the 650ml as it is a bit deeper, will be able to house a home made windshield made out of aluminium beer cans (work in progress). And a lid will help keep everything together (I hope) - home made meths stove, folding spork, small container of meths, lighter etc.

RichardH 1905,
I'd not thought of using beer cans to make a windshield, let us know how you get on. I suppose you'll be using Bud Light!

;D ;D ;D

Aluminium cans, certainly. The aluminium is very thin and springy, ideal for a windshield. Will post some photos when I am done, but am waiting for the arrival of the Lixada mug that I have ordered, as I want to size the windshield correctly.

Lixada 650ml Ti pot with lid arrived today, very pleased with it, quality seems good, handles are ergonomic, useful graduations on the inside, and the lid is a good snug fit.  O0

Just had my first cup of tea from it (after a good wash, of course), heated on my home made meths stove (weight 14g), beer can windshield (10g + 2 tent pegs poked through holes in it to act as a pot stand). 15ml of meths heated 300ml of water to a good boil in 10 minutes.

My Lixada pot stand/windshield arrived today and I'm very happy with it, though not tested yet. It fits perfectly around my  Triad stove and my Alpkit 650 mug slides in to give a great fit. Probably give it a test tomorrow.
