My Very First Wild Camp :)

Thanks Dittzzy, foz_79, redeye and yamyam for your lovely comments.

I've just come back from a very wet few days in Langdale.  It was great to
camp on an organised camp site and I will use them again, but for me it is
going to be very convenient to wild camp over night just locally from where
I live.

There are just some days when I can't get out... but this way, I could cut my
grass etc and then at 7pm at night, I could go up the valley, park somewhere
and then wild camp over night and come back home the next day when I am
ready.

I think it is brilliant way of using my time of living where I do more wisely.
I don't talk about this a lot, but I sometimes have commitments due to my
mum being very disabled, which can limit the time I spend out.

I can't say how many times I have sat at home in the evening, wishing I could
have gone out..well now I can use the 24 hours that there are in a day!

Thanks everyone for the inspiration of what you do on here.

And, I love my little stove.

And, I've eaten way too much over the last few days.  I don't know where my
appetite has come from!

Dinner on the little stove in the little pan, has tended to be...

First add a dot of butter in the pan,
add chopped spam / corned beef or could be tuna
chopped up mushrooms
then chopped up spring onions
chopped up carrots,
when it is all hotted and a little browned
then add water and boil for a while
then stick a small can of baked beans in
and finish with some more water and Smash
and stir
add milk if required
and eat.

Ditto    You are unique Dibbs.  You're enthusiasm and wonder at the simple things in life is refreshing and inspiring.  I don't think you realise what a great influence and contributor you are on here 

Anyway, why would there be more room if you're "courting"

If you manage to get up to Scotland I am sure we could find somewhere to wild camp where the deer wake you up in the morning!

Might have to bring my tent down in September at this rate!  I'm sure my down sleeping bag and the dog will keep me warm and it will be worth it for the sunset and sunrise!

Sounds great ptarmigan.  I do have plans for travelling up to Scotland and wildcamping where ever...
so.. deer sounds very wow!

Never say never Mick, ask Ian S about the man he helped complete a full traverse of the Cuillin ridge wearing a calliper on one leg and minimal strength in the other.  Took 4 days and an awe inspiring effort!

Sorry Pete, gave all my kit away years ago, the most outdoor thingy I do now is sleep in the awning, when we are away in the caravan must admit I do like laying there hearing the rain fall. (Need my comfort nowadays)

Well you'll just have to borrow ours then    That's my favourite thing as well, lying cosy in your Maggot (Sleeping Bag for non-Military types) and listening to the rain on a hopefully rainproof tent.  Only problem is when it continues after you have to get up

This is truly inspiring stuff, and I would love to do it some day, although I wouldn't know where to begin, being a city-dweller!

Just caught up with this (I'm not as quick as I used to be...) - wot fun, though. I'm glad you had a positive experience and that no hill-monsters were lurking about outside your tent during the night. You're lucky to have such a wealth of nice places to go so close by.
