Title: Ullswater - Blue Green Algae Warning
Post by: adalard on 14:11:53, 28/06/18
Afternoon all,

Someone I follow on Twitter just re-tweeted an announcement from the Environment Agency NW that there is a bloom of toxic cyanobacteria, popularly known as blue green algae, in Ullswater:

"Blue green algae has been found in #Ullswater #Cumbria which is potentially harmful to swimmers. If you spot algae please call the incident hotline 0800 807060. If you are concerned, please contact @EdenCouncil Environmental Health or seek medical advice."

Obviously it can be very dangerous for children and dogs playing in the water too. More info here too for anyone in the area or heading up there in the near future:
