Enjoyed it, thanks, despite a LOT of rain hammering on the flysheet. Pleased to say that the cheapo tent, which is getting on in years, didn't let in a drop. And it was great crawling out of the sleeping bag straight into the kitchen for tea and toast!

Out on a Dad's day treat with my daughter today .  We grabbed our cameras and took a turn around for Caradon Hill, Quarry and Tim Mines.  The I assume, local, kids have wrecked the quarry since I was there last summer. Very disappointing to see graffiti on the rock faces and disposable barbies in the water along with dozens of tin cans plastic bottles and discarded bike inner tubes. I'm gurssing the locals, like me, who would often pick this rubbish up are not touching it at present due to Covid. 

We moved on to some more Tin mines after the quarry and grabbed a few nice shots before the sun disappeared.  I'll pop some photo's in when I down load them.


















All in all a lovely afternoon out with my daughter.

Yesterday I did a nice local evening stroll after my tea.  Hoping to spot the barn owls.  I didn't spot those but I did spot swifts feasting on the swarms of mozzies and gnats, a buzzard catching a swift (one of those gruesomely fascinating moments)    , a (I think it was) sparrowhawk, 3 geese, loads of bunnies, and a bambi.  Oh and a black cat crossed my path.  It didn't bring me much luck though as I got bitten to death by mozzies.  Not quite as fierce as the Scottish ones but enough to cause my hand to swell up significantly

Buzzards/birds of pray are awesome creatures Mel, cats of the sky I can watch them hunting for hours. There must be thousands of them in Cornwall these days.  Very different to thirty years ago, when they were a rare sight.

A quick walk on Bodmin moor this afternoon.  I headed out from Rough tor via Alex tor to Stripple Stone Henge, beyond Hawks tor. Cornwalls only Stone Henge and always worth a visit if you are in the area.

Then back North over Garrow tor and Brown Willy, hiding to the left of the photo, to the car  A lovely afternoon for a walk, if a bit blustery. 12.5 miles

Last Wednesday I walked a small part the South Downs Way (Harting Down to about Graffham and back - ca 20 miles) in the blistering heat. This is one of my favourite stretches of SDW and I can start not too far from my home. Very strong uv-radiation on that day! But I really enjoyed it.


Nature in full force . I saw many flowers, butterflies, red kite, yellowhammer, etc.



I'm now thinking about walking the whole 100 miles this summer, since I'm not really going anywhere far this year because of covid, and this I can start almost from where I live. Did it 12 years ago on a bicycle, but nowadays I enjoy walking more.

Week in the Lakes so just what I was expecting.
