can someone identify this cove?
« on: 07:31:27, 12/01/15 »
I know this is a strange request, but you seemed to be the most likely people to have an answer.

I visited the UK in summer 1982 and was taken on a day trip by car by an acquaintance. I think we visited the south coast, where I took these two pictures. I have no idea where this is. A friend suggested Lulworth Cove, but I'm not sure. Bear in mind my pictures are over 30 years old.

If you need a high resolution version, contact me and I can arrange something.

Thanks in advance, Ken

Hi Ken and welcome from the Peak District  O0

I agree with previous comments - your images are of Lulworth Cove, as your friend suggested.

A lovely area!

Both shots are taken from the coastpath immediately W of the Cove-  the first is (obviously) looking E into the Cove, the second is looking NE or ENE onto the village, which straggles along a little valley leading into the Cove.

Lovely spot Lulworth Cove. I actually learned underwater navigation there when scuba diving years ago.

Defo Lulworth - I had the awesome experience of leaving Lulworth quite early morning last Easter (very cold weather - snowing on Lulworth ranges he day before) and being the only person at Durdle Door the next couple of coves along - I didn't meet another soul until on the White Nothe, the cliffs above Ringstead, several miles (and a lot of ascent and descent!!) further on. As this is usually such a busy area it was a privilege to have it all to myself before the coach parties arrived. Just one of the perks of linear walks along a trail when you can get an early start in.  ;D

Thank you all, Lulworth it is!  O0

As for why, I'm writing a retroblog of my trip to the UK in 1982. The entry, with explanation and credit where credit is due, is here: green-possum-1982.blogspot.com/1982/08/lulworth-cove.html

There will be more entries to follow as a much younger me made his way through the UK in the retroblog. There are already entries on Europe if you are curious to see what it looked like in 1982.

Cheers, Ken
