Dartmoor walk 9th April 2015
« on: 17:22:26, 09/04/15 »
Just got back from another great walk on Dartmoor.  I left the car in the car park behind the Dartmoor Inn, near Lydford, and walked to Nodden Gate, then followed the old peat track to the point where it bends back on itself.  I left the track here and continued on to Branscombe's Loaf, then headed due south, crossing the marshy ground below Lyd Head (thank heavens for gaiters :) ) to reach Great Links Tor. That was quite a climb.  From there I carried on to Higher Dunna Goat, then downhill to Bleak House where I found a good spot for lunch beside the Rattle Brook.  I then continued via Dick's Well to Brat Tor (Widgery Cross), then downhill back to the car.  According to Viewranger it was 9 miles.  There were plenty of people on Brat Tor which is always a popular spot, but apart from that I only saw a few people in the distance.  The weather was perfect for walking.  Looking forward to the next one now.
