Hello,
I'm hoping to walk mount keen in 2 weeks time. Has anyone completed this mountain before? any advise? It has been 5 years since I completed anything of this scale. I have been suffering with a calve injury so all depends if my legs are ok on the day.

Hi Erica
We were contemplating Mount Keen in August last year, but ended up climbing Ben Hope instead!
We contacted the local sporting estate on the south side of Mount Keen beforehand regarding access during the stalking season - they were helpful and told me that there were no issues if you approach along the track from Glen Mark to the south. Looks like an easy enough walk.

Thank you - I hadn't considered deer stalking. from looking on various websites it appears they don't deer stalk on the weekend but will definitely do a bit more checking.

I believe that grouse shooting is the main activity in this area, Erica.

This is the contact I used when enquiring about access from the south.

Coming in from Glen Tanar is very nice and you can cycle quite a lot of it. I’ve only been up once from Shielin of Mark but have gone in twice from Glen Tanar to walk it but the weather closed in. Good paths up the hill

thank you both for the links and information - I really hope I get to do this in a couple of weeks. I will be walking it form the south - fingers crossed

How did you get on, Erica? Any photos?

Hello,
I never made - totally gutted. My friend didn't feel physically able to complete it so we had turn back and I don't have the confidence to go it alone.
I guess it will still be there for next year but still gutted.
Thank you for asking though.

That's a shame. But as you say, the mountain will still be there next year.
