Hi folks, I am a friend of Alan's - he asked me to keep an eye on this after I set it up for him this morning - computers aren't really his thing.  He is on a train and I didn't want to reply for him in his absence but can assure you it is Alan. I will let him tell you himself when he returns. Best regards, Sam - on behalf of Alan

Hi guys, sorry for any confusion. It was me posting this morning but I left Sam to look after it for me while I was off doing radio interviews today. It is Alan Hinkes and I'll be feeding my updates through myslef, or via Sam on twitter as I do this new challenge. Off for a good night's kip after a long day. All the best, Alan

Welcome Alan.. (I think?)

I'm also ignorant of mountaineers. But I guess they drop in occasionally??  :D

I'm sure he will soon climb the ratings?
Ok enough puns..

It seems it's all about his "record breaking" attempt to climb the highest peak (hill) in each county. A record of some sort I suppose although has anyone bothered to do it before? A lot of effort to promote a watch. Makes a change from the 3 peaks I suppose.
...because it's there.

I'm not at all sure what such peaks there are? Might be a record to name them.

I don't normally partake in this type of post but there has been some good points raised re is this person the real deal. My input to the debate is this; would someone of such prominence really fail to capitalize the first letter of their surname  ;) ;D

It has been done before and been recorded in a book by Johny Muir called Heights of Madness. (Amazon!) Not read it meself but apparently very funny.
Although I did read that Alan Hinkes was thinking of doing it in an edition of Trail magazine, cant remember which month though.
Cant imagine he would find it to difficult after doing all 14? 8000m peaks.
(dont believe its him on here though.)

Here's a bit from "our" (me and AH's) local paper about his new challenge. All for a great cause, MRT.

I'm fortunate enough to have met Alan a couple of times and if he needs to authenticate his presence on here then he can always PM me or even call in next time he is in town, O0

guess who

Well i for one hope it is him.
He has been a great inspiration to me over the years.

I have been to some of his talks at various places around the country. I even have some of his signed posters on my walls.

Jim.

I've met him, top bloke, doesn't suffer fools at all, achieved a lot well beyond the ability of myself at least and probably a few more, if Timex want to pay him to promote stuff cool. If MRT is benefitting thats even better so welcome Alan and good luck.

I wonder what the highest is in Cheshire ? Off to search for it......... :D
