Title: Four Brooks to Kinder Scout
Post by: harry_keogh on 10:14:56, 17/03/17
A long walk around Kinder Scout including Blackden Brook, Grindsbrook, Crowden Clough, and Fair Brook. Decided to try this challenging route last week, just after a night of heavy rain. It made the brooks a little more exciting. My original plan was to do more but I always forget to account for the time lost messing about taking photos when I plan the route! I'll probably return in the summer to do a few of the brooks that I missed. It turned out to be a day of two halves. Damp and misty in the morning, but by the afternoon the sun was out and all the sky had turned blue. An enjoyable day overall, and I may follow it up later this year with a 'Four Brooks to Bleaklow' walk!

Great photo! And there are many more just as great, as well as some brilliant descriptions of this challenging walk, at the web page with the full description (and the interactive map). I am inspired to attempt the Two Brooks that I haven't yet done but might have to split it into 2 days (or more.... :-[ )

You could easily split it up how you want. So many variations. I may return in the summer for a part 2. Start at edale, skirt round to the west and ascend red brook, down the pennine way on the north side to the snake path, back up nether red brook, down fair brook, up gate side clough, then back across the plateau and down by golden clough or grinds brook back to edale. Another great day with 3 more routes added :)

I remember doing 2 ascents of Kinder in one walk once.  I went up Grindsbrook Clough first, then headed West along the plateau edge and came down Jacob's Ladder. On the way back to Edale on the Pennine Way, I decided to climb up Crowden Clough. At the top of there, I walked East and eventually descended again via Ringing Roger. Sort of a figure of 8 jobby. :D

I quite enjoyed the double ascent and have actually thought about doing similar as a group walk.

Anyway, great photos Harry  O0

That sounds like a giod enough route to me Sunnydale. And Pleb, i wouldn't really say I was that fit. Knees are a little iffy on occasion but it's more persistence than fitness that gets me through
