Cheers Mr. Blister,
Actually, the routes I've posted are dotted around the place. But there are map routes all over the country. What if I post a link to my routes (North Wales) and another here in the general section? Cheers

Hey guys!
New to this forum but it looks great and there's loads of information about places I've never walked. Brilliant! I know that there are restrictions about posting website links here, but there's route-sharing site I post to all the time and reckon the forum would benefit from knowing about it. Do admin think i would it be ok to post links to some of my routes? If so, where shOuld I post them?

Just back from a weekend in the Southern part of Snowdonia! What a gem it is!

Hi all,
I'm a strength competitor who has decided to do a bit of walking for fitness work. I had never climbed before till last weekend, and me and my son climbed Mount Snowdon up the miner's Track route. It was great fun, and quite exhilarating at the top, even in the clouds!

Anyway, we're lining our next one in a few weeks time, and I'm sure I'll be asking a few questions. I've read a lot of the threads here already and they have been very interesting.

So hello all.

Hi Dave! And welcome to the forum room (and all others welcome as I not had chance so a big welcome to everyone). I did snowdon via Crib Goch earlier this year and it was great fun. Have you tried the Black Mountains there amazing. if you go of the nuttalls book on the second day you can see all the tops of every mountain you climbed on a clear day that's if it a clear day....

No I haven't done the Black Mountains, just that trek up Snowdon. I've just googled them and see the're in Mid Wales.

Which one of the 3,000ft peaks/tracks in Snowdonia do you suggest next after my one trip up Miner's Track? I want one a little tougher to keep the progression.

Also what book do you suggest for hill walking in that area? Is Ashton's book useful?

Cheers,
David

I mentioned the Nuttalls this is a really good book.full title is called the Mountain of England and Wales volume 1 £12.99 it a fantastic book very details good navigation  though out, if you what something a little tougher than I suggest you stay in a summit shelter there's one on top of Cadair Idris or if you like knife edge ridge try Crib Goch for a tough route please look it up before you go as it might not be your cup of tea.. and at 3028ft(923m). like they say in most book it is not an easy walk and you are on a knife edge ridge if you do it the best way is on your left. I enjoyed this route. Hope this helps

Thanks for the link, remind me to be careful if we ever shake hands  ;) (Bet you get that a lot, right?)

The pictures of Snowdon were great, you can't beat the sense of achievement can you?  :)

Wow you are good.

Do you think your exercises might have an application for scrambling, or rock climbing?

Mr Blister,
Yes it felt a great sense of acievement, especially as I have had vertigo for most of my life. Just one of those things, but I felt absolutely fine on this, but then again it hasn't really got any big shear drops.

Feriol,
Thanks!
I've competed and trained for most of my life, and love it.

Most of the grip exercises we/I use would definitely help your rock climbing, and even your scrambling if you needed some grip strength/endurance.
I have coached since the 80's and in that time have coached quite a few rock climbers.
