Thank you Sunnydale, I can't wait!
I was thinking of making a little weekend of it and heading over on a Friday to arrive around late afternoon and camp over ready to walk on the Saturday so I can set off early, what sort of time would you advise to be out for?
Hi Pipp,
Camping is a great idea!
If it's a warm/hot day, set off as early as you can after brekkie so you can do the climb up Grindsbrook at your own pace, before it gets too hot. There is little shade on the way up and once you're on Kinder, you'll be exposed for a few hours to the elements, whatever they may be on the day. There are often a lot of people going up onto Kinder via Grindsbrook at weekends, so by leaving early, you'll also hopefully avoid the crowds on the climb. You wont have to worry too much about your dog either, as I presume he/she will be off lead?
Kids are on holiday from school now too and it's surprising how many climb up with their parents when the sun is shining.
Just to add....as you near the top section of Grindsbrook, the clough splits off to the right. Most people carry on straight up but I personally prefer taking the right hand 'fork'. It's just more fun to scramble up
Have a great time!
