It looks like I got it. My folks will collect it either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I won't get my mitts on it until next weekend.

My past experience of gumtree would suggest that possession is nine tenths of the law and the sooner your folks can hand over the cash and collect it the better if only to stop the possibility of someone else offering more and the seller accepting which has happened to me on a couple of occasions.

I've never bought from there before. Fingers crossed. My folks are out until 6pm but I'm sure they'll act quickly after that so we'll wait and see ...

Being gazumped on Gumtree happened to me earlier this week. I'd seen a really good rucksack and exchanged several e-mails and it suddenly went quiet: as I was expecting a response (which wasn't forthcoming) I mailed again - only to receive an apologetic reply that it had been sold to somebody else.

My dad has the tent. O0

I suppose the only possible problem now is that I'll discover something wrong with it when I get my hands on it next weekend.

I suppose the only possible problem now is that I'll discover something wrong with it when I get my hands on it next weekend.

Let's hope it's OK.

You could always get your dad to open it to check the contents and to look for any obvious signs of damage to the material, zips, the main pole, the 2 short end poles etc. and to count the pegs.

The number of side doors will tell you roughly how old it is. 1 door is pre 2015. 2 doors from 2015 onwards.

Pre 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WB6Dm2KPy8

2015 Onwards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-ZL0AdMYHQ

If it's not OK it's a big enough bargain at that price to be able to replace a missing peg or two. Anything major like damaged material, zip or broken pole and I suppose you could return it for your cash back.

This very long thread might be worth a flick through for some hints and tips http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/forum/gear/zephyros-owners-thread/46381.html and there's plenty of info, reviews and videos on the internet.

I'm interested in those compasses Peak Rambler. How much for postage?

They went to a local Scout group (where I know the Scout leader very well) the very next day, who were more than pleased with the bargain purchase.
