West Highland Way

Started walking the West Highland Way yesterday. Found a fabulous Hotel and Campsite that opened just last year called Ardoch House Hotel and West Highland Way Campsite. It is located just off the West Highland Way path about 5 miles from the Milngavie starting point. Would recommend that you stayed here on your first night. call them on 01360 771740. Very friendly staff with great facilities. Great value too. Now starting Day 2 of my 7 day walk.

That was lucky, finding that, thanks for telling us all about it.

Bit too near the start of the WHW for people doing it though I would say and off route.

It is a bit close to the start for a first stop but it might suit anyone travelling a distance to Glasgow on public transport and arriving in Milngavie later in the day. An alternative to spending the night there and setting off in the morning.

For those that don't know if you are waiting at Glasgow station listening for an announcement for a train to Miln-ga-vie you won't hear one! Listen for Mull-guy!

I remember getting confused when I was trying to get to the start! Reminds me of where I used to live in Kent, Trottiscliffe is spoken as "Trosley" and Wrotham is spoken a "rootam" not "rotham".
