Snowdon in the snow
« on: 16:21:56, 02/01/18 »
Another epic day in the snowy mountains of the UK, this time on the highest summit in Wales with some great company. Setting off on the Ryhd Ddu path and coming down the South Ridge in sunny, cold, snowy and clear weather. A great way to eventually finish off 2017 for me. I'm not sure how to put photo's on here now since photobucket went silly so I'll just put my blog post on with photo's and a video of the day .
Cheers  O0

Enjoyed that redeye  O0  I’ve done it the other way around with Bwlch Main being very foggy, didn’t get the snow though.
Touching from a distance, further all the time.

Cheers, the south ridge is my second one favourite way up and down and I have a few awesome days out. It's a great way either way  8)

Another great TR, Redeye - some very atmospheric pictures there!  O0

I've only been up Snowdon once but my ascent was via the South Ridge and I thought it was a wonderful route. Unfortunately, like Phil1960, by the time I got to Bwlch Main the clag had settled in so that part wasn't quite as exciting as it should have been! I did get the "Let there be light!" effect after I'd been at the summit for a while so all wasn't lost and I was able to enjoy the views.

Thanks for sharing.

You might be in luck, as of 35minutes ago, it was sleeting heavily at the top of the Crimea pass, and even though there is very little snow on the hills at the moment, i recon by next week, things will have changed.
