Here is the first of 5 videos outlining 5 days where one chap did exactly what you are suggesting. In winter.

So it is certainly possible to do, and he didn't encounter any issues.

He carried way more weight than I would have though. I'm probably a wuss.

Hope you have a great journey together whitehorse.
Are you going to do it both ways or have you someone to collect you and your pony at the end?

thank you  :) sorry, feel I've stolen your username a bit!!

I live in Yorkshire so I'll need transport both ways. Hoping to catch lifts on horse lorries in both cases- there's often a horse transport company trundling somewhere nearby and so you can keep the costs down by just paying for some of the journey. or at least that's the plan! I'm fortunate that I have family near the end of the path so there's somewhere to keep him while I wait for a lift back.

lol, no worries! Took my name (and business name) from the white horses in Wiltshire (and of course you'll pass the Uffington one when you do the Ridgeway). I used to get a lot of spam from companies thinking I had something to do with real white horses! Hope you can sort the logistics and have a wonderful ride.

He is a hardnut carrying 40lbs!

But he's grabbing some great views and a bit of solitude.

I'm liking the idea of winter backpacking on the Ridgeway.
