This is the perfect “If you have one afternoon in Malham” walk.  For not a lot of work, the views are gorgeous and varied, and I didn’t meet a single person until I circled back past the cove parking lot.

I started out from town and headed west up the bridleway near Beck Hall toward Pikedaw Hill. Before long, Malham Cove came into view to the north east.

The waterfall and becks were running high after a very soggy previous few days, but there were always dry, well maintained ways to cross any becks.

Classic views into the valley behind.

You could also call this the “Oh, look!  It’s . . .” walk.  Shortly after turning north toward Nappa Cross, it’s “Oh, look! Malham Tarn!”

And if I hadn’t dropped and wrecked my camera at this point, you could have seen “Oh, look!  Pen-y ghent!” too.  Sigh.

I had set out late, so I returned to town down the Cove Road path through the fields parallel to Watlowes.

Don’t forget to pop into the Town End Farm Shop a couple of miles up the road in Airton too!
(I have a feeling the links to the photos on Facebook aren't working.  Maybe something doesn't want me to share this little gem.)

Thanks!  It's the landscape--can't take a bad photo there.

It'd be easy to extend this in so many ways, and I totally forgot to root around in the spoil heaps for all of the interesting minerals left behind.
