We were going to Souther Fell on Saturday, a day walk, because surprise, surprise, the weather was too bad overnight for wild camping. As we drove along the A66 we couldn't see any fells because the clag was down to valley level so we turned left at Troutbeck and parked at Dockray to do a walk including Aira Force instead. It started raining as we got out of the car so it was on with full waterproofs. The rain was a bit on and off and not that bad.
On the path from Dockray, Place Fell now visible
The clag had started to lift and we had some views
Aira Force
There was a lot of water in the beck and also a lot of people about.
We walked down to the bottom car park, I wanted to see if the NT car parks take debit card payment. They don't
We had lunch sheltering in the trees. Rain had started to fall more heavily. We walked back up to Aira Force but on the other side of the beck to the one we'd come down on.

Not a bad walk, it could have done with being a bit longer. Our route was Dockray - Millses - Aira Beck - High Force - Aira Force - NT car park - Aira Force - High Force - Millses - Dockray. 4.25 miles with approx 200m ascent.
