Scotland walks query
« on: 20:25:56, 31/10/19 »
I've visited Arrochar, Tyndrum, Crianlarich, Glencoe, Fortwilliam, Luss, Tarbet on previous Scottish trips. I realise these are in SW/West of Scotland. Can anyone suggest other areas in Scotland where I could get to using buses/trains or close to an airport? Thanks, Henry

Rural Scotland isn't well serviced by public transport. Some places you could get to,
Cairngorm's by bus or train to Aviemore from Perth or Inverness. Or Braemar by bus from Aberdeen.

Glen Sheil by bus from Fort William.

Glen Carron by train from Inverness.

Glen Affric by bus from Inverness.

Hopefully that's something to think on. Obviously there are others but I'd have to look up bus and/or trains.

Aviemore by train or bus for the Cairngorms, then bus up to Glenmore.

Moffat is a good base for walks. Trains and buses to Dumfries from Carlisle, then a bus to Moffat.

Buse from Fort William can get you up to Skye ,Kintail on the way through, and onwards to Portree you could get a bus to Uig and ferry over to the Outer Hebridies. From Inverness you can get buses over to Gairloch or Ullapool area and ferries from Ullapool. Also train to Oban gets ferry access to Mull,Islay Barra and South Harris,Mallaig is also accessie by train and ferry to Skye or Knoydart
