In search of Bluebells
« on: 19:50:36, 30/04/18 »
A short 2 mile walk I do yearly in search of bluebells and deer with my dog Ben. It may only be Harold Hill in the outer London borough of Havering, buts its a beautiful walk all the same!

Lovely, bluebells are my favourite flower. We have a few walks in Suffolk that we always do this time of year to see the bluebells.

Great Photos.

Recently walked 3 dingles on the Long Mountain, Shropshire and was surprised to find the bluebells so far forward. They are only just starting to show but this is adding a hint of blue to the carpet of Wood Anemones making very striking views through the trees if the light is right.

A worthwhile hunt is for Bluebell locations in steep sided hard woodland, such as the dingles Mrs BWW and I were exploring on Sunday, because there will be a longer season. The south facing banks come earlier, leaving a later display for the north facing sides.

Another unusual combination seems to be Blackthorne Blossom and Bluebells, hope we are going to find the more usual combination of Hawthorne blossom and Bluebells.

The first half of the North Downs Way spends a lot of time on woodland paths and it was a joy to see the sheer amount of Bluebells on display on every woodland path. Ironically they seemed to finish when I reached a nature reserve called "Blue Bell Hill".

Bluebells are now in full bloom along the south coast of Devon.
But up on Dartmoor they will be another one or two weeks

Loads of bluebells on the Leicestershire circuit I walked at the weekend, particularly Ambion Wood on the Bosworth Battlefield section.
