Hi from Manchester
« on: 19:10:43, 15/06/18 »
Hi All

Long time lurker here.

I walk mostly in the Peak District, using the train to Edale, Chinley or Glossop. Thanks especially to Adalard for many useful route ideas.

Whenever I can I head up to the lakes. Last weekend, descending Ullscarf I saw two people approaching from the opposite direction. When they got closer, I realised they were none others than April and Beefy. Can't really not post after that!

Welcome to the forum - glad to hear some of my walks have been useful.  O0  Manchester is my home town so I used to regularly use the same train lines myself for trips out before we moved over here.

If you met them on day 1 of their weekend I hope April and Beefy offered you a glass of wine...  ;)

Thanks for the welcome.

A good walk is better than counselling!

It was Sunday morning - more wine was the last thing I needed  :)

The trains make Peak District walks so easy: it's embarrassing how long it took me to catch on!

Actually it took me a good while to cotton on to that one myself - and even longer to realise I could use the train line to do linear walks as well as circular ones!  :-[ ;D

Thanks again.

Beefy - I hope the rock slabs up to Hopegill Head treated you OK - can be tricky when wet.

Adalard - yes, Chinley is a good finishing point, nice pub there too. I wonder if it is Jontea's local  :)

Not quite that close Mike, Romiley is a little further out but still handy for the peaks  O0
