Chichester Harbour
« on: 13:06:46, 19/09/16 »
Chichester Harbour on the south coast is a vast area of creeks and marshes with picturesque villages dotted about.  It's serenely beautiful and is one of my favourite places for walking.  A few photos from my walks there this summer

These two are of the village of Bosham

Wild flowers on the Chidham Peninsular

I saw these swans on the creek between Bosham and Chidham

The next two are at Dell Quay

Emsworth

Thanks for looking   :)

Nice pics Dovegirl.  It looks really peaceful there, and is a part of the country I have never visited.

I have never been to Chichester, though remember it fro some soppy tv program from years back and it looks lovely. Perhaps it has scope for a meet up sometime if it has nice walks -though probably have to be next year.

In the old days, that is at the height of the Cold War, Chichester was often named as the place where people might survive for a while after a Nuclear attack on the UK. Can't remember why this was but I knew the name of Chichester even as a small boy growing up in Kent. Funny what the brain remembers. It is an important place, one of my neighbours here in Portsmouth always goes to Chichester to get his hair cut. The area near to the Cathedral often reminds me of Italy, when I go there (I like it a lot) there often, on a sunny day, seems to be a lot of people walking around in their best clothes just promenading around. Seems to be a much more leisurly place than here in Portsmouth.

What a beautiful area, Dovegirl, and your pictures are great.  O0

The creeks must be perfect for seeing coastal birds - I'm no birdwatcher and I'm not very good at identifying the ones I see, but there is something really relaxing for me in just sitting and watching them all feed at low tide.

Thanks for sharing.  :)
