My Swan Song on RA forum.

The commentary above seems to criticise the RA for going for group memberships being collected by other people more energetic than their own fund raisers.
This is the pattern of company takeover, a powerful organisation will take over the smaller company that has vigour not possessed by the larger company. The classic scenario is the failing large company with an incompetent board manages to persuade its shareholders to shell out to take over a group of companies to save its bacon. This is the swan song of the failing larger company.
In chess the whole purpose is to win the game on the board and this is done by check mating the queen, it does not matter how many pawns you take and then the major pieces, if your opponent sneaks in behind and pins down your queen, it then becomes a sitting duck until another line of attack check mates it.

The RA has squandered its advantage in winning ‘open access’ by not going for the ‘Responsible Right of Access’, the Landowners were exposed to the left wing assault on the landed establishment, but short term political gain for Tony Blair’s No 10 was more important. Did the ramblers sell out the walkers of this country for the pyrrhic victory of socialism to ensure that the ‘Right to Roam’ as named by the political machine got through the House of Lords. Is this the reason why they cannot stick 2026 into the sides of there parliamentary allies and expose a corrupt deal.

Did the RA lose its main pieces and is this the reason that we have seen them now snapping up pawns ever since.

BWW can you be more specific? This sounds really interesting and I dont know the half of the half of it. Maybe this forum could play a role in putting pressure on for access rights?

If your on about rights of access Ive been walking and stuff for years and have never had a problem. Used to get access to cave systems through working on good relationships with the landowner. Makes me laugh rights of access the vast majority of folk just stick to the main footpaths anyway so most of the new legislation is wasted. As for my freedom I know where that comes from and it aint a bunch of folk from a walking club.

Let me make this clear, I am not a member of a walking organisation and never have been, whilst I was on the RA forum, it went into meltdown and wiped out much of the posts I had developed at the time it went down.

My corruption of the DM topic was my own work and the result of my own thinking, every RoW dept. and personnel member I have talked to will suggest that the DM has been corrupted from the outset, and it is the fundamental tool of our legal access to the countryside.

Those RoW's that do exist are the only negotiating asset that the ordinary member of public have to ensure that they can access their countryside, the legacy of the past will be wiped out in 2026, and no provision has been put into place to ensure that the access network to our countryside can be expanded. Hereditary landowners still hold control over large swathes of land that are not accessible.

Every kilometer Square that is devoid of a right of way condemns a child in that area of the right to walk into their countryside.

The RA has thrown away the key and walked out on us all.

That is really serious (to put it mildly) Does it also mean that established rights of way can be removed???? Sorry if i seem naive and unknowledgeable that s because I am.

No, it is very difficult for a landowner to have a RoW removed, but the CLA Country Landowners Association is lobbying very hard to indentify and have removed those footpaths that seem to serve no purpose.

Also reading their monthly publication their RoW advisor Sarah Slade is very active in promoting means to stop RoW being formed, this I believe is tied in with a policy of member recruitment.

With the RA in its current difficulties there is a serious imbalance in the lobbying against these pressures.

I think the situation is worse and is tied up with 2026, but I have a bus to catch, a bit of countryside to go and see and maybe little bit of trespass too.

Move to Scotland, No law of trespass and you have the right to roam as long as you are courteous to other land users.
